Turvey, the landscape and village
The concept is for a fully managed landscape for shared use, and in part for public use, which contains within it provision for private space associated with individual apartments. The development will offer a positive opportunity to enhance and protect much of the landscape setting of the southern edge of Station End and its landscape setting. A sympathetically designed low-impact care development is proposed to replace the industrial complex that has, for many years, been an un-neighbourly feature close to residential properties.
The proposal includes:
- Retention and reinforcement of the landscape buffers around the site boundaries which protect adjoining properties and soften views into the site from the surrounding countryside.
- A new permissive footpath connection to the public footpath network including the Turvey circular walk and the planned railway line trail.
- Wildlife enhancement proposals for the site.
- New tree and copse planting at key points around the site to minimise visual impact from the development.
- The main site access and subsidiary ‘private drives’ through the development are designed to be used as shared surface type driveways of varying width, with tight corner radii and ‘nodal’ junction points to reduce traffic speeds.
- An award-winning design team led by Stephen Lloyd Architects in conjunction with Tyack Architects and Portus + Whitton Landscape Architects has been selected to produce a scheme that will be in-keeping with the original character of Turvey.
